F1 Drive to Survive with Box to Box and The Collectv

The Collectv had the great pleasure of working with Box to Box Films on their 10-part series, throughout the 2018 Formula One season, which is released on Netflix’s platform around the globe today, March 8th 2019.

Providing on location DIT facilities and ensuring the safety, security and backup of the rushes around the globe, The Collectv managed an enormous amount of data, with production shooting in amazing 4K quality and with numerous audio systems to capture action never shown before.

In-house technical manager Simon Tomkinson was technical lead, which involved designing and building a bespoke system, suitable for being flown around the world and enduring numerous different climates. Ensuring the workflow and equipment was efficient and powerful, with redundancy built in, to deal with the high data rates, was crucial to turning the media around within the constraints of the F1 schedule.
