ITALIAN GRAND PRIX – HOME WIN FOR FERRARI AT MONZA

Leclerc brought Ferrari their first win in Italy since 2010 at the Monza Eni Circuit on Sunday after holding off both Hamilton and Bottas despite their best efforts to pass throughout the race. The race also marked a big shift for Ferrari as Charles Leclerc surpassed teammate Sebastian Vettel in the title standings.

The Collectv had teams working at the track in Italy, providing instant media management and secure backup of material, plus further support delivering operational support and coordination in the U.K.

BELGIAN GRAND PRIX – CIRCUIT DE SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS

Once again Charles Leclerc was on pole position for the race this weekend in a Ferrari grid lockout, their SF90 engine was well suited to the high-speed circuit leaving Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton +0.763 seconds off the pace. Sadly in the following Formula 2 race, Leclerc’s close friend and driver for Renault Anthoine Hubert passed away after a terrible crash at the exit of Eau Rouge. Admirably, Leclerc was able to continue racing and brought Ferrari their first win holding off Mercedes and dedicating his first F1 win to Hubert over the team radio.

A Collectv DIT team were present at the track with production for the full event, assisting the crew with technical support and secure media management including ingesting and transcoding of crucial material.

A BUSY FEW WEEKS

Providing Adobe edit systems with full EVS integration together with CTV for the darts at Blackpool, DITs covering the formula one at the Hockenheim ring track in Germany and Hungaroring track in Hungary, plus storage systems for the ashes in Edgbaston. It’s fair to say the Collectv has been busy.

Rob Cross defeated Michael Smith at the final in Blackpool adding a second PDC major final to his 2018 World Darts Championship title, putting him in good form for the Dublin World Grand Prix next month. Formula 1 saw a shakeup in Germany after both Mercedes drivers spun out in bad conditions, Hamilton finishing in 9th place and Bottas unable to finish. Mercedes then swiftly bounced back in Hungary with a risky move to switch Hamilton to a softer tyre in the last 20 laps that allowed him to overtake Verstappen with just three laps to go. During a three-week break in preparation for the next race in Belgium, Red Bull have also taken a risk by making a big mid-season change swapping out Gasly for Toro Rosso driver Albon. The Collectv will also be there to continue to ensure the safe backup of content.

Finally, the ashes in Edgbaston saw Australia overcome England by 251 runs in their first test putting them ahead in the series going into the Test at Lords and The Collectv will continue to provide storage solutions alongside CTV.

The British Open 2019 - Royal Portrush

The world’s best players descend on the small town of Portrush in County Antrim this weekend, for the 148th Open, as it returns to the Royal Portrush Course for the first time in 68 years. All eyes are on local hero Rory McIlroy after a poor start in the opening round seeing him score 79, eight-over-par and leaving him in danger of not making the cut this weekend. Working for CTV, alongside NBC and European Tour Productions, The Collectv has installed and is guaranteeing a powerful Avid interplay and edit system including Nexis Storage, EVS integration and all relevant periphery.

Elsewhere, The Collectv have been busy supplying DITs and live media managers for Formula 1 ensuring the safe handling of media assets for several broadcast clients at the Silverstone Grand Prix last weekend. The eventful race, full of crashes and drama, meant Silverstone had the most rushes we have had to backup in the F1 Calendar so far!

Ferrari raise the heat in Austria

We are in Styria, Austria for the next round of the Formula 1 World Championship. If the heatwave currently sitting over Europe, wasn’t enough for Mercedes to contend with, it seems the Ferrari with its superior top speed and Leclerc at the wheel, was unbeatable in yesterdays qualifying.

Formula 1 fans around the world should be looking forward to today’s race, as a penalty for Hamilton and Red Bull looking strong, Mercedes are unlikely to have this race all their own way, which can’t be said for most of the 2019 season.
